About
Why Did I Write This Book?
I dedicated most of my life to serving as a Police Officer of a small community. I did not do it for the fame or because my ego needed to push people around. I did it because I believed in serving the community.
When this case came up, I was reluctant to take it on because it was going to be a hard one to prove and if I did prove it would they get any prison time? I am glad I took it on and am pleased with the results.
My book the Twenty Million Dollar Sweetheart Swindle was written for several reasons.
First, to explain one of the strangest cases I ever worked as a detective. Second, I wanted to include some other cases I have worked and what explain what it was like being a police officer between 1987 and 2020. Thirdly, it seemed that I was continuously contacted, by the news media, and asked to explain the circumstances of the case.

The latest journalist was a gentleman from the United Kingdom who wanted to do a podcast to discuss one of the actors in this scam, because she wore a disguise and spoke with a British accent.

The case is unusual not only because of the amount of money stolen, but because of the depths of deception the criminals took to deceive the victim, and the fact that the ring leader was a Gypsy and a Psychic.

After Retirement

At the time of his retirement, he was investigating computers and cyber-crimes as a Computer Forensics Detective. He was assigned to an FBI task force at the Northwest Regional Computer Forensic Lab, investigating Federal, State and Local computer related crimes.

At the time of this case Detective Floyd was dealing with his own aging parents and trying to keep them and other elderly citizens safe from thieves like these.
Steven Floyd now owns his own computer forensics business. He lives with his wife of forty-three years, and he is the father of two. He enjoys walking their two dogs, a Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix, (Ava) and a Labradoodle (Bailey).
All the names in this book are changed. Some of the facts have been changed to make a better rounded story.
